What is THED?
Thailand Eating Disorder Support, or Thed.support, is a peer community and a virtual space for young adults aged 13–20 with an eating disorder to come together and share experiences in order to find recovery.
We believe that community is important and that humans can heal better when they know they are not alone.
About eating disorders
What is an eating disorder?
An eating disorder is not just about food—it’s also about control. Although it may look like someone is simply eating too much or too little, underneath is often a deep struggle with emotions, self-worth and the need to feel in control of their life. People with eating disorders may become overly focused on food, body weight or appearance as a way to cope with stress, anxiety or trauma. It’s important to know that eating disorders are serious, but with understanding and support, recovery is possible.
For parents of a young adult with an eating disorder
The first step is to approach your child with compassion, not judgment. Let them know you’re concerned because you love them, not because of how or what they’re eating. Stay calm, listen more than you speak, and avoid comments about weight or appearance. Instead, focus on how your child is feeling. It’s okay not to have all the answers – just showing up with care and a willingness to support them is powerful. Early connection between you and your child, along with professional guidance, can make a real difference.
